A Wage Garnished

Jamie Lewis, a domestic violence survivor who got help through BRASS in Bowling Green, got at least 3 payday loans a couple of years ago. She took out the first loan to pay some bills, but then she got another and then another. Ultimately, she wasn’t able to pay them back. The payday lender took her to court and her wages were garnished. She estimates she borrowed about $1,200 in total and that, in the end, the experience cost her nearly $2,000, including court costs.
